Meet the Artist

Deema Elqadi is a self-taught abstract artist born in Chicago, Illinois. She is an NC State University graduate, whose major, Human Biology, is the inspiration behind the young artist’s intricate, acrylic paintings. A blank canvas and infinite possibilities at hand ignited her growing desire for artistic expression. Deema's childhood interest in art and deep appreciation for natural beauty is strongly reflected in her work. Her aim is to portray harmony and evoke a broad range of emotions from viewers using color, shape, texture, and layers of transparency and opacity. She admires the abstract aspect of each piece that allows viewers to interpret and connect differently. Curiosity and wanderlust, two essential factors in Deema’s growth as an artist. Being an avid globe-trotter greatly influences her work. Her many travels and exposure to different cultures and arts in countries such as Indonesia, Dominican Republic, and Turkey, inspired and fueled her artistic passion. When she’s not painting, Deema enjoys playing piano, learning new languages, hiking, and most importantly, spending time with friends and family.
